Class meets on Tuesdays 3/19, 3/26 , 4/2 and 4/9.

Prerequisites: At a minimum, you and your dog have completed 1 6-week Intro to K9NW series. Your dog’s foundation should include a strong motivation for source (‘odor obedience’). Dogs can be working on primary (food or toy), paired or odor. Your dog will need to be able to wait for their turn in your car, or quietly in your crate in the lobby.

Some of the challenges your dog can encounter in K9 Nosework are inaccessible hides. These are hides where the dog is not able to put their nose on source, like a hide in a closed cabinet, deep in a stack of chairs or behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Does your dog avoid, or make a halfhearted attempt at inaccessible hides? Do you have trouble identifying when your dog is working an inaccessible hide?  Using training games from top instructors such as Natalie McManus, Tony Gravely, and Michele Ellertson, we will work on building a dog that will persistently pursue source.  These training games will be fun and challenging puzzles for your dog to solve, always ending with the opportunity to get all the way to source. While your dog builds their problem solving. skills, you will build your eye for your dog's behavior in these types of setups.
